Thank you for a Wild Treasure wedding...

Posted by Wild Treasure on Tuesday, October 28, 2014,
It really was a wild treasure wedding and it was like that because of the two of you.

Mallorie, your inner strength and harnessed wisdom is rare and so needed in our society and universe. It was honestly such a blessing to have you bring some of our truth to our wedding ceremony. It was the ribbon that bound the past weeks and months of careful preparation, thoughts and feelings together. It really was as Martin said, the foundation to our marriage and now we are privileged and gifted with th...

Hike 1 of our Getting To Know Your Mountain series - Sunday 9 June 2013

Posted by Wild Treasure on Friday, June 14, 2013,
Sunday dawned crystal clear as eight of us gathered beneath the cliffs of the Twelve Apostles - an eclectic bunch including a pro genetic modification activist, a Martha Beck Coach and an educational pioneer, what we all had in common was enthusiasm and a desire to experience the lesser known parts of Table Mountain. Accompanied by the sounds of a multitude of streams and miniature waterfalls rus...hing towards the Camps Bay Coast below,we climbed upwards - a compulsory passing through an ic...

Wedding Ceremony Ritual...

Posted by Wild Treasure on Wednesday, March 27, 2013,
When Nic and I envisioned our wedding, we knew that we wanted a ceremony that was deeply meaningful to us as a couple, as we both felt that all too often the marriage ceremony itself is  overshadowed by  the reception and all the details of of decor and design (which though amazingly fun to plan, are really, if you think about it, secondary to having a life commitment witnessed by your loved ones). So with that in mind, and the fact that Nic and I are from completely different religiou...

A Wild Treasure Find 25 July 2012

Posted by Wild Treasure on Wednesday, August 1, 2012,
On a sparkling winters day last week, Mallorie and I headed off to the office, to do some navigation excercises and discuss upcoming projects. Hiking off path in a magical place down near Cape Point we came across this tortoise shell, nestling amongst restios as if it had been there for hundreds of years. Perhaps it had. I have never seen a live Leopard Tortoise that size. Regular fires here probably keep them small. We peeped through a large hole in the top of the carapice-it was completely ...

Poem & Photo from a Cederberg wander

The Quiet Portal

My sister and I scatter our chatter
along the twisting  paths,
through the cool Kloofs
and over the pulling peaks
tossing our complex lives out
across the indifferent tussock grass
across the heather raging mutely in her pink
until slowly silence swallows our littering voices
and the rain wrinkled rock
rises up and wraps us in stillness.

The clouds send flying saucer shadows
over the buffeted hills.
A budding Disa quivers on it’s curved
stem like an unopened prayer.
A spiral- shaped spide...

Elandspad Recce 19 Feb 2012

                                SUPRISES
There's no better place to be on a scorching hot day then a cool kloof whose pools and waterfalls and gnarled old trees draw you on and on until towering cliffs finally tell you that you have gone far enough. With the idea that it could be a slightly more adventurous day for clients who want to venture a little beyond Table Mountain, we went to explore a tributory to the Elandspad river in Dutoitskloof. Apart from a slightly exposed scramble at the star...

ETHAN’S ADVENTURE

It began with Alison’s HAIRY request.  "I have this FUN godson, Ethan, who lives in the TERRIFYING city of Johannesburg.  It’s his STUNNING barmitsvah, and I want to do something SHOCKING with him.The EXQUISITE result was that Ethan received a ROUGH invitation with instructions to bring his HIGH sister, Gaby, on a bit of a TIRING journey.

That is why a rather BEAUTIFUL group gathered in Kalk Bay early on Monday morning. Ethan had just had a DELIGHTFUL cr...

Posted by Wild Liesl on Monday, November 7, 2011,

Equipped with all the accoutrements of the most hardened adventurers, 8 boys and 1 intrepid girl headed up Echo Valley in search of the magic cave and in celebration of Tristan's ninth birthday. They followed the clues left by that greatest of all adventurers, Asterix, and enjoyed the treats he left on the way which included a refreshing draught of Getafixes Magic Potion and a lolly pop from the lolly pop tree (latin name leucospermum conocurpodendron.)

Wild Mallorie managed to keep the even w...

One day at the mall

To kill passion - take it to a shopping mall

There
amidst the ordered, labelled, packaged clutter called essential..
There
amidst the multiply, twinply, multiude of hygenic, scented not to offend protection from end to end...
There
amidst the glossy sticks of lipstuff, the pampering glut of revivers restorers and menders, for splitenders..
There
amidst the germkilling lotions, the clean and kill potions , the bought in a bottle notions...

There
If you can catch a hint of musk
the real stuff

HIMALAYAN SONG

Posted by Wild Liesl on Thursday, August 25, 2011,
Finally it alights as small and fragile as a dragon -fly
And now I must take my thick growing fear
And drag it across the tarmac with my heavy load of safety gear
Have these two tiny pilots ever been in the sky?
Diamox, fleecy sox, water -filter, gortex jackets
Wasn’t there something else? What have we forgotten?
Check the list again. Oh dear-needle and cotton.
Tick Antibiotics, chlorine tablets, guide -books, rehydration packets
And why are the pilots consulting the aircraft manual?

Up, up we bob, ...
